It’s a fine line to tread, and I’ve heard from too many people that are sick of retro aesthetics and attitudes now.ĭouble Dragon Neon, thankfully, doesn’t really fall into the trap that some other games do.

Some deviate too far from the original source material, while others jam in too many references and make it feel as though the gameplay was more of an afterthought (I’m thinking of Retro City Rampage here – I might cover that one later on). Not all old-school games are created equal, though. In recent years there’s been no dearth of titles trying to scratch that old-school itch, and many of these releases have been quite successful. I love a good retro throwback as much as the next gamer. The rating scale, from best to worst, is Definitely!, Probably, Maybe, and Hell No! This scale isn’t absolute, though different people have different tastes, and I’ll try to respect that in my reviews.) (Cashing In Cards is a series where I play games with on Steam long enough to obtain my allotted Trading Card drops and then decide if the game is worth playing after that.
